Ingolstadt isn’t only an automobile city, but also heaven for bikers. There are well marked bike routes along both sides of the Danube- perfect for day trips. Biking to Altmannstein on the old railroad embankment is especially appealing. You will be spellbound by the unique scenery in the Altmühl region with its Jura stone formations, lovely river valleys and famous sights- like Abbey Weltenburg, the Befreiungshalle Kelheim, or the Prunn Castle.

If you’re interested in ammonites, shells or other fossils, then you should visit the quarries near the baroque city of Eichstätt. Equipped with a hammer, chisel, and a bit of luck, you and your family can have a go at excavating impressive paleontological finds.

Located in the picturesque Schutter valley, the carefully designed Ingolstadt Golf Club has 18 holes, a club house, driving range, putting green, and practice bunkers. The terrain is flat, but plenty of trees and water features make for an interesting experience.
